Interxion
London data-centre scheme
Interxion commissioned a design-and-build standby installation in an eight-storey building without suitable ground-floor space. The detailed specification calls for five MTU-powered sets rated at 2,250kVA prime; the separate product heading states 2,000kVA, an unresolved discrepancy.
Compact rooftop system
- Five individual 8,000-litre day tanks.
- Remote radiator cooling, fans and redirected airflow.
- Automated fuel delivery over a connection exceeding 1,200 metres.
- Controls, switchgear, protection and cabinets integrated into bespoke enclosures.
- Slab tanks and acoustic design reduced the required equipment footprint.
Structure and lifting
Surveys assessed the building’s equipment and fuel loads, vibration and transmitted noise. Bespoke steelwork supported generators, tanks and cooling equipment on vibration dampers while accommodating cables, fuel services and access. Positioning the approximately 40-tonne sets required three cranes, ten truck deliveries on one day and council permission.
Testing and handover
Load-acceptance tests established compatibility and operation of the installed system. Commissioning and client handover were completed within ten days.
