Cummins C550D5 Generator for Engineering Project in Scotland

Coastal engineering assignment

An engineering contractor selected YorPower through competitive tender for a project on Scotland’s east coast. This was the first collaboration between the businesses, and the customer had already specified a Cummins C550D5.

Marine and acoustic protection

• Bespoke acoustic container with C5-M marine paint.
• Marine-finish stainless external fittings and door furniture.
• Plated fasteners, stainless hinges and door stays.
• Custom attenuation delivering a reported 65dB(A) at one metre.

Integration and acceptance

The package incorporated Modbus communication and a link box for single-phase auxiliary power. A factory acceptance test at the Yorkshire headquarters included full load-bank testing. Consumables were also supplied for use in site maintenance.

Installation and continuing support

The project progressed to the agreed delivery programme. YorPower installed and commissioned the equipment for the saline shoreline environment, with a planned servicing agreement supporting the generator after handover.
