Karbala Water Treatment Plant

Karbala water-treatment infrastructure

A water-treatment plant supporting Karbala’s sewage system required emergency power in a demanding Iraqi environment. Reliability was central to the selection, given the importance of water infrastructure to domestic and agricultural needs.

Sixteen Perkins-powered generators

  • Eight containerised units rated at 2,000kVA each.
  • Six units rated at 1,250kVA each.
  • Two units rated at 1,000kVA each.
  • Equipment delivered through a four-stage programme.

Survey and project development

Engineers spent several months reviewing the client’s requirements and travelled to the site on the Euphrates for detailed surveys. The visits informed equipment selection and the suitability of the design for the application. Although the contract is described as supply-only, the team also provided survey and advisory support through the project stages.

Completed installation

The delivered generators were subsequently installed and commissioned to provide emergency backup across the site. The client praised the practical advice, thorough planning and collaborative support, describing the relationship as extending beyond equipment manufacture into project consultancy.
